Over the next couple of weeks our high schools are scheduling celebratory diploma pick-up times for each Senior to receive his/her official diploma and take photos at the school. The schedule for these events can be found here. Additionally, we are in the process of finalizing plans to use the Rapides Parish Coliseum to hold commencement ceremonies between July 8-15. These plans will be pending appropriate COVID-19 precautions. High Schools will be communicating final plans with Seniors and their families NEWS and UPDATES.... Athletic Programming The LHSAA has issued this guidance . There will be no approved LHSAA athletic programming prior to June 8th. RPSB COVID-19 Virtual Learning Survey Summer Academic Program (Click here to read) RPSB COVID-19 Virtual Learning Survey Continuation of Feeding Sites: Starting Monday, June 1st we will transition to our 11 summer feeding sites. We will continue the current serving times of 9:00-11:00. We will not be serving the week of May 25-29. However, we strongly encourage parents to take advantage of the expansion of SNAP benefits. The RPSB Summer Feeding sites are: Alexandria Senior High, Bolton High, Buckeye High, Carter C. Raymond, Glenmora High, Nachman Elementary, North Bayou Elementary, Rosenthal Elementary, Peabody Magnet High, Pineville Elementary, and Tioga High Schools. We are asking our students to complete this survey so that we can accurately measure our students' ability to access and complete virtual learning opportunities. USDA P-EBT SNAP Benefit Expansion: The USDA and Louisiana Department of Education is asking school systems statewide to help communicate with parents about the expansion of SNAP benefits as a result of COVID-19. The flyer from the State is attached here. Parents must apply through the state portal . The funding amount is $285 per child based on the following criteria: ✔ Families with one or more children in their household ✔ Children are younger than age 18 ✔ Children are approved for free and reduced-price meals at school Special COVID-19 Blanket Employment Certificates for Minors to work in Louisiana In response to the current COVID-19 event, pursuant to La. R.S. 23:184.1 the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) will begin issuing sixty (60) day blanket Employment Certificates for employers desiring to employ minors in the State of Louisiana. Employment Certificates issued due to this event shall expire sixty (60) days from the date of issuance. Upon expiration, employers will be required to obtain Employment Certificates as required pursuant to La. R.S. 23:181 et. seq. Employers desiring to obtain an Employment Certificate pursuant to this memorandum must submit a completed and signed “Application to Employ Minors under 18” along with proof of age to laborprograms@lwc.la.gov. The application can be downloaded from the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s website APPLICATION : . Incomplete applications will not be processed. Employers should allow three (3) days for processing. When the application has been approved, the employer will be notified via email from the LWC Office of Workforce Development. The names of those minors who are approved to work pursuant to the Employment Certificate will also be attached to the email. As indicated, blanket Employment Certificates are effective for a maximum of sixty (60) days. Blanket Employment Certificates are not transferable.
